US President Donald Trump Vows to Maintain a Good Relationship with Qatar

The President of the United States Donald J. Trump has pledged strong commitment towards maintaining a healthier relationship with Qatar, following the country's recent blockade by the Saudi-led group.

On June 5, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt imposed a land, sea and air blockade on Qatar. This move has led to increasing tension in the region.

Qatar is home to the US Al-Udeid airbase that holds the forward headquarters of Central Command and hosts around 10,000 American troops.

During an interview with CBN's Paul Robertson, Trump asserted that, "While 10 other countries have shown interest to build us another air base, we will maintain a good relationship with Qatar and not close the military base in the country.

"If we ever had to leave, we'd have 10 countries willing to build us another one. And they'll pay for it. The days of us paying for things are largely over" he added.

E-conner on Friday gathered that, following the Arab countries' decision to impose the blockade on Qatar the month past, Trump, in a series of tweets, appeared to apparently back the move, stating his trip to the Middle East is "already paying off" after he said wealthy countries can no longer be funding radical Ideology".

On Thursday, the White House said Trump put a call through to the Saudi King in effort to find possible solution to the already rising diplomatic tension.
