The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has described as speculative reports that the strike embarked by the union over the inability of the Federal Government to implement the 2009 agreement it willingly entered with the union would be called off today. ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said he was surprised about the reports making the round when the issues tabled before the government had not been resolved. The ASUU President said: ‘’We have been duly informed of a purported rumour credited to ASUU national secretariat which stated that it has instructed members and students to return to full academic activities next week is in circulation. “Please this information is totally false. Shameful!! 540 Nigerians to be deported from Libya

Five hundred and forty Nigerians are set for deportation from Libya, beginning from Aug. 10, Mrs. Julie Okah-Donli, Director-General, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons(NAPTIP), has said. Okah-Donli disclosed this on Wednesday in Osogbo, at the inauguration of the North-West Zonal Command Office of the agency. She said that the deportees would be brought back to Nigeria in three batches of 180 each. The NAPTIP boss said that more than 2000 Nigerians were deported from various part of the world from February till date, over various migration offences, including human trafficking. Okah-Doni disclosed that the agency had rescued and supported more than 12,000 victims of human trafficking, and also secured 325 convictions since its inception in 2003. Tillerson tells Lavrov: Russia's meddling led to mistrust!

The US has cautiously raised concern over Russia's alleged interference in last year's presidential election and its effect on relations between the two nations. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Monday that he told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Moscow's meddling in the vote created "serious mistrust" between the two countries. Pictured here is the famous philanthropist Chief Aloysius Nnamdi Ikegwounwu (Ebubechukwuuzo Ozubulu) who single-highhandedly built the St Philip’s Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu in Anambra state where gunmen opened fire and killed several worshipers  yesterday. The attack was a spillover of a drug related feud between two Ozubulu brothers resident in South Africa. E-conner gathered that the main matter was said to be between Chief Aloy Ikegwuonu and another Ozubulu man popularly known as Obrocho. Latest information indicated that the gunmen were hunting for the South African base millionaire (Chief Aloysius Nnamdi Ikegwuonu) popularly known as Bishop who is rumored to be a drug baron, as they traced him to his house but were told he had gone to church where he was meant to hold a thanksgiving service. There is tension in Anambra State following reported death of over 50 worshipers as gunmen launched early morning attack during a Sunday service. The attack occurred at ‎St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu. News of the reported attack, which is being shared in various platforms read: “Black Sunday!! Mauritanians have voted to abolish their senate and alter their national flag by referendum, the electoral commission announced on Sunday, in a clear victory for President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz the day after the vote. While turnout was 53.73 percent, 85 percent of voters on Saturday declared "Yes" to changes put to a referendum when they were defeated in the senate in March, despite fierce criticism from a boycott movement that called mass protests during campaigning. Abdel Aziz, who last week described the senate as "useless and too costly," has said the move to abolish the governing body would improve governance by introducing more local forms of lawmaking. N-power has announced Tuesday that N-Teach assessment test previously scheduled to commence yesterday the 2nd of August 2017 is now to be written on the 9th of the same month. "This is to enable a hitch-free process" the statement read. Many who applied for the N-power scheme have for the past months expressed worry and confusion for the lack of prompt updates from the Government Social Initiative aimed at combating unemployment in the country. While millions who applied for the scheme where either denied access to their portal or granted the opportunity to sit for the now infamous test. However,  according to a report obtained exclusively by E-conner , text messages will be sent to all applicants whose BVN information corresponded with the one provided during registration for the N-Teach badge of applicants.
